Our Story
In 1983, Pastor Bobby Peters resigned from the church he had pastored for 7 years. He and his wife, Jackie, moved their family to Ozark to start a Free Will Baptist Church. One of the first things on the “to-do list” was to secure a place to live in Ozark. They found a house at #7 Parker Drive. Through an unbelievable series of events, Bro. Bobby and Mrs. Jackie sat on the living room floor of the house on Parker Drive and signed the papers to purchase the home. Bro. Bobby reminds us often that the number 7 represents perfection in the Bible. He believed (still believes) that the house number and how the house was purchased was further confirmation that God was directing their steps. Pastor Bobby, who eventually became known as “Preacher”, continued to work his full-time job while they established the foundation for Ozark Free Will Baptist Church, which later the name was changed to Harvest Free Will Baptist Church. During the summer of 1983, the Preacher and Mrs. Jackie visited local churches and shared the vision of starting a church in Ozark. They worked to get proper paperwork filed for the church and secure a meeting place. For the past 40 years, Bro. Bobby and Mrs. Jackie have devoted their lives to the ministry of Harvest Free Will Baptist Church. In 1988, the Preacher was able to retire from his full-time job and focus on the ministry full-time. Through the years, he and Mrs. Jackie have made many sacrifices to sustain the ministry of Harvest. They have worked full-time jobs, worked part-time jobs, delivered newspapers, drove a school bus, refused a salary, etc so that the expenses of the ministry and their household expenses could be paid. According to the Preacher, there were times when they wanted to “sneak out of Ozark in the middle of the night”. Thankfully, the call of God on their lives would not permit this. They have remained examples of servanthood and trust in God to fulfill His promises. Their service is a testament to the faithfulness of God. In October 2023, Preacher stepped down as Lead Pastor, as a result of declining health, and Harvest Free Will Baptist Church elected and called Daniel Jones and his wife Amanda from Virginia Beach, VA. Both, He and Amanda desire to continue the legacy set forth by "Preacher" and Mrs. Jackie. They desire to witness an individual's experience and growth within a relationship with Jesus Christ.
